Joe Loeffler
Joe has been successfully managing the people, processes and technological advancements of Blue Star Benefits since 2007. Insurance is what Joe knows, and he strives to ensure that we provide the best possible solutions to all Blue Star brokers and clients. Considered a rising star within the industry, Joe is constantly thinking outside the box to place Blue Star at the forefront of industry standards.
Joe has a love for oatmeal, reading, yoga, and spending time outside.
Frank Loeffler
Dedication and perseverance are an effective combination in any industry. Frank Loeffler just so happens to have used those two traits to build one of Kansas City’s leading General Agencies: Blue Star Benefits. With 45 years of experience working with benefits and health insurance, Frank is considered an industry expert. His extensive knowledge allows him to provide clients and brokers alike with unsurpassed policy and industry knowledge.
If you ask him, he’ll love to tell you that far and away, his favorite part of working at Blue Star is the people, both those he meets and those he works with daily. Frank also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and cooking.
Carey Cox
Carey joins our team with 6 years of group insurance experience. She specialized in:
- cultivating and maintaining positive carrier and client relationships
- presenting customized proposals to clients
- enrolling new hires
- resolving billing, claims and compliance issues
- the sale of ancillary lines

Amanda Sitzman
Although new to the insurance scene, Amanda brings several years of customer service experience to Blue Star. Her enthusiasm and drive to go above and beyond for our brokers and clients has shown time and time again. In addition to providing individual and medicare policy sales and support, Amanda also organizes broker trainings.
Always full of energy, Amanda’s perfect day would start off with a quick bowl of Grape Nuts followed by a Redsox baseball game and a Tim McGraw concert.

Janice Cooper
As Blue Star Inc.’s bookkeeper for the past two years, Janice’s meticulous work style makes financial information management appear effortless. With an outstanding knack for organization, Janice has been successful in utilizing technology to stream-line and simplify our financial records. Any question can be answered with a click of a button, making her one of the most efficient and valued team members at Blue Star.
Janice’s ability to connect with people on a personal level is a true testament to her genuinely friendly nature. When asked what her super power would be she said, “to promote healthy relationships”.

Cassandra Schwalm
Cassandra, or Cassie as she is affectionately known, is the backbone of the Blue Star family. Cassie’s customer service background really shines as a member of our support team. Chances are, if you need help, just ask for Cassie! She is able to assist agents, individual and group business. Her great smile and positive outlook on life are a breathe of fresh air and make her a joy to work with.
On a weekend you might catch Cassie snuggled up with her favorite caramel macchiato watching a chick flick. She is a true believer of the statement, ”You are stronger than you seem, braver than you believe, and smarter than you think.”
Carlie Meitner
Carlie is Blue Star’s creative genius. A lover of art, Carlie brings an exciting element to all our marketing efforts. Her ability to combine both contemporary and classic components in her designs lends a unique yet professional feel to our company that sets us apart from our competitors.
Outside of design, Carlie’s true passion is her husband, and six-month old twin boys. She prides herself in her coffee grinder dance moves and the personal conviction that she could win Fear Factor if put to the test.
Matt South
Fully devoted to the technological advancement and success of Blue Star, Matt South is a vital part of our day-to-day operations. Including a Computer Science degree from Kansas University, Matt brings nearly 10 years of experience to our organization. His knowledge and experience are used to implement hi-tech features which allow us to provide extraordinary customer service to our brokers and clients.
Matt’s favorite phrase, “don’t worry be happy”, and an ability to juggle almost anything, completely sum up his personality. His smile and Can Do attitude are contagious, and make Matt a joy to work with.
As Blue Star’s project manager, it’s Sarah’s job to turn ideas into reality, and challenges into opportunities. A natural-born planner, one of her greatest joys in life is to see a project through to fruition. Be on the lookout for many of the upcoming projects to soon be revealed!
A native Iowan, Sarah enjoys exploring Kansas City, spending time with her family, and lazy Sunday mornings spent with a cup of Chai and a good book.
